‘IS NOTHING CLOSE TO THE TRUTH,’ BURNA BOY DENIES UK ENTRY BAN OVER GANG TROUBLES

Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy has debunked allegations that he has been banned from entering the UK for 15 years, over gang troubles.He said this while speaking to HipHopWorldmagazine at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport on Tuesday, November 3,2013.The media report that I have been banned from the UK is nothing close to the truth,says Burna.Sources close to the ‘Like A Party’singer have insisted Burna belonged to a gang that killed someone while he lived in the United Kingdom in 2010. The killing led to his arrest and was jailed for 11 months. He was said to have been released on two months parole, on the grounds that he would be of good behaviour, but he violated the condition and traveled to Nigeria.We also gathered that, on his return to the UK,the Glo ambassador was stopped at the airport and deported back to Nigeria, apparently for violating his parole rules. This earned him a 15-year ban from entering the UK.Burna has vehemently denied the claims, but an industry insider, who spoke to HHW, insists the young man had problems with the UK authorities. The source also hinted that Burna’s addiction to drug, which was already distorting his psyche, was a contributing factor to his being returned to Nigeria.However, Ogudu also faulted speculations that he has issues with his record label Aristokrat, and may be severing his business relationship with the entertainment company soon – to form his own imprint, believed to beBurna Boy Goons(BBG).‘I have no problem with Aristokrat records, am still a recording artiste under the Aristocrat record label,’Burna emphasised.He also expressed his disappointment for losing in the ‘Best Newcomer Video’category at the just concluded Channel O Music Video Awards.‘I feel so disappointed and funny for not winning the award category I was nominated for and the irony is that I don’t even know whowon the award for the category,’Burna said.Apart from the Channel O Awards in South Africa, I had three other shows.
